We sadly announce the passing of Hazel on January 20, 2011 in Parksville BC. Hazel Hunter was born on October 7, 1921 in Armstrong BC and came to Trail when she was six years old. Hazel married Albert Delorie in 1938. They were happily married for 54 years until his death in 1992. She is now reunited with him. Hazel will be lovingly remembered by all her family: her sister Connie Bloomfield, brother Lawrence (Jessie) Hunter, sons Allan, Patrick and Leonard (Teresa), daughter Heather Herbison, grandchildren Jennifer (Andrew), Noah, Danielle (Brian), Katie, Jared (Alicia), Cassandra and Tianna, great-grandchildren Rhoswen, Lauren, RaeAnna, JJ and Jessica, and many nieces and nephews.
Hazel lived in Oasis until 1977 when she and Albert moved to Parksville. Hazel was an avid square dancer and bowler. Hazel and Albert belonged to the Square Wheelers and traveled all over the Pacific Northwest dancing. She bowled for well over fifty years, finally retiring from the lanes five years ago. The Funeral will be held in Parksville on February 11, 2011. A celebration of life will be held at the Oasis hall in the spring, to be announced at a later date.
