With great sadness Herb Harfman’s family would like to announce his passing at home with his family by his side on February 13, 2011. Born in Penticton, BC on March 1, 1946.

Herb moved to Salmo in 1965. Herb and his wife have spent their life together working, raising their family and enjoying Salmo. He was raised in the Bridesville area on Circle 2 Hereford Ranch. His family raised Registered Hereford Cattle. Herb started working for Hanson Sawmills logging, later Canadian Exploration Mine operating equipment underground on the road network. He then worked for Kootenay Machinery driving truck and hauling concentrate to Cominco and the USA. In the same business he became office manager and then part owner. During this time he purchased land in Salmo and created the Evergreen Trailer Court that is still in operation and got back into his passion a few years ago raising cattle.

He was well known for his ability to help people and his humor was second to none. This attribute will be greatly missed by us all. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Dorothy, son Jeff (Melissa) of Bridseville, daughter Diana (Doug) Lockwood of Salmo, Grandchildren Felicia, Christian, Jordan, Ashley and Cameron.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Inness, home care nurses, Salmo Drug Mart, Salmo Wellness Centre, friends and family that have supported us through this entire time, and last but not least the support the Talarico Staff have given us.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Salmo Community Centre on Saturday February 13, 2011 at 1pm. Burial to be at a later date.

Donations can be made to BC Children’s Hospital 4480 Oak St, Vancouver, B.C. V6H 3V4
