September 1, 1944 - December 6, 2018
Iris was born on September 1, 1944 in Canterbury Kent, England. The daughter of Tom, a soldier in the Canadian Army and Violet, a "Candy Striper" aiding the war injured. Iris passed away on December 6, 2018 after losing a battle of her own, cancer.  The disease took her away much too soon and much too quickly.  But she slipped away with dignity, grace, and at peace.

Iris was predeceased by her son Michael, father Tom and mother Violet. She is survived by her husband of 31 years Karel, sons Tom (Jenny), Danny and Nikolas. Grandchildren Aaron (Jenn), Melissa and great-grandchildren Michael and Anjelica Rose.

Iris enjoyed the many simple things in life, the yard with flowers, birds, gnomes. A manicured lawn was her pride and joy, she never passed up a chance to show it off to anyone who walked by.  She loved the summer (It was warm), and hated the winter. (Too cold)

In her own way, family meant everything to Iris.  There was always a place in our home and in her heart for anyone needing help.  Advice was freely given and on occasion heeded. She was her father's daughter in all the best ways. Generous, loving, hard-working, stubborn, appreciated, loved and the list goes on.

If anyone would like to remember Iris in a way that she would love, please plant a flower in a special place.

We will forever miss you Honey, Mom, Gramma, Great Gramma, and most especially friend.  Love you lots.

There will be no service at Iris' request. Brent Long of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
