It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather Irvine "Mike" Kissock. He left us peacefully on September 20th, just 8 days short of his 88th birthday, surrounded by his family.

Mike was born in Kirkpatrick-Fleming, Scotland on September 28th, 1923. He was the oldest of three sons born to Peter and Winifred Kissock. The family immigrated to Canada in 1928 making their home in Camrose, AB. Mike moved west to Trail as a young man to start work at Cominco. He soon met and married Gwendolyn Melgard in 1947. They settled in the greater Trail area raising their three children Larry, Rick and Judy.

Mike retired from Cominco in 1982 to follow his growing family from town to town supporting them in their sporting events and activities. He was their biggest fan. Mike was an avid sports fan and trivia buff and enjoyed years of camping at Kootenay Lake. His favorite past time was spending time with his family whom he cherished.

His last four years were spent being actively involved at Columbia View Lodge always looking forward to his daily activities. Mike was humbled by being elected president of the Residence Council. He cared deeply for the Lodge staff that always made him feel very much at home.

Mike was pre-deceased by his parents, his younger brothers John and Doug, his wife Gwen and son Larry.

He leaves behind his son Rick (Lorri) Kissock, daughter Judy (Jack) Startup and daughter-in-law Gail Kissock; his grandchildren Lora (Kim) Verigin, Jason (Nancy) Startup, Darrin (Stacey) Kissock, Rikki (Steve) Beliveau, Kevin Kissock, Jordan Kissock, Erin Kissock, Christopher (Shaunna) Kissock and Tami (Ryan) Hanley; great grand-children Abby, Macy, Jorja, Emmrie, Devin and Taylor as well as many extended family members.

He will be greatly missed, but his grace, courage and patience will never be forgotten.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all the wonderful staff, volunteers, volunteer musicians, friends and the recreation department at CVL for making Mike's last years so enjoyable.

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Mike's name to CVL-2920 Laburnum Dr. Trail, BC V1R 4N2.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
