It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our amazing father, husband and uncle Jim Halpin on July 2, 2017 in Trail, BC with family by his side. Jim was predeceased by his father James.

Jim had two loves; the love for his family, and his work with SPL. He gave 110% to each, neither were neglected. To his kids he was Superman.

Jim has played an active role in the community for many years. He sat on city council for two terms. He had always volunteered at community events. Jim was instrumental in getting a weight training gym off the ground at the Trail arena. Jim’s love of music began with the Chevel 5 in the 60’s and continued when Peter, Jim and himself formed North of 60, playing at many dances and gigs. Jim and Donna also owned and operated the social hub - The Glenmerry Market for 10 years. He spent most of his life in the Trail area, with the exception of 8 years living in Vancouver, where they owned and operated two English pubs.

Jim had many adventures over the years, which included marrying the love of his life and Soulmate Donna. Together, they took many trips to Hawaii and Europe. Family trips to the Dominican, San Diego and Disneyland. His favourite weekend would be the annual family trip to Spokane, and “Happy Hour” in the lobby of the Davenport.

Jim leaves behind his wife of 50 years Donna, his precious daughter Megan (B.J.), and awesome son Devon. His sisters Caren, Pat, Sheryl and mother Helen. He also played a significant role in the lives of his nieces; Angie, Chris, Mari, Dianne and Dawn Carla. He also leaves behind his brother- in -law and best buddy Terry, along with many loving nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and the USA, as well as numerous friends and work buddies.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 12, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Fruitvale Community Hall, 1968 Main St, with Celebrant Ken Siemens. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the KBRH Health Foundation Palliative Care, www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca or 1200 Hospital Bench Rd Trail, BC V1R 4M1, or to a local charity of your choice.
