Bruce: John, a long time resident of Rossland, passed away at Poplar Ridge on February 17, 2011. He was born May 9, 1925 in Vancouver, BC.

John worked as a millwright at Cominco for 33 years. He played trombone with many bands including; the Kitsilano Boys Band that twice won the World Championships for boys ‘marching bands’, 44th Field Squadron band, Trail Maple Leaf Band, the Rossland Legion, and the Novatones.

John is survived by his sons Robert (Xinhua), Tom (Debbie), Leonard (Marjorie) and Albert, daughter Rita Forrest, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Mary, sister Bess McKenzie, daughter-in-law Donna, and grandson Jeffrey.

A family graveside service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery at a later date. Al Grywacheski of Personal Alternative Funeral Services “Carberry’s Chapel” is entrusted with arrangements.

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in John’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
