Joseph Sinal of Trail passed away on September 15, 2011. He was born August 24, 1921 in Podbiel, Czechoslovakia.

Joe immigrated to Canada in 1938 at 17 years of age. He worked several odd jobs before joining the army. He served in WWII until 1941. When he returned, he started his employment at Cominco. Joe worked in the zinc tank rooms for 38 years, retiring in 1979. He won his first car, a Model A Ford, on a 50 cent ticket. This started his love for cars and motorcycles. He had 35 different cars/trucks and 40 different motorcycles in his lifetime. Joe was an ingenious inventor and builder of tools and devices. He created many things before Canadian Tire had them in their inventory but didn’t patent any. He owned more tools than Canadian Tire, Home Hardware, and Sears combined. Joe was a devoted brother to Johnny and sisters Mary and Adela. He was a beloved uncle to two nephews and two nieces whom he always spoiled. His favorite TV program was WWF wrestling and his favorite food was a Czechoslovakian dish, halushki. He travelled to ‘the old country’ a couple of times to see family. The rest of his travels included trips to points in BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan to visit family. Joe was a sensitive, humble, unique and resourceful man of faith with a heart of gold. He will be sadly missed by all who had the blessing of knowing him.

Joe is survived by his brother, John Sinal (Louann Lenarduzzi and her son Jason Despins);

nephew Darin Sinal (Stacey) and their children Ainsley and Bryn; nephew John (Willie) Wilson (Chris) and their children Jillian Wilson (Andy Hewitt), Jenna Wilson (Darren Zanussi), and Johnny Wilson; niece Gerri Tullikopf and her sons Brenton (Tara) Tullikopf, and Tatum; Blake (Natasha) Tullikopf and Tucker, Summer; Brady (Kelsey) Tullikopf and Boyd Tullikopf; niece Terry Smith (Garry) and their children Derek (Janet) Smith, Riley and Ethan; Colleen (Brandon) Acorn, Kaelyn, Marinn and Camryn, and brother-in-law Stan Hodgson.

Joe was predeceased by his parents Joseph (1947) and Maria (1963), his sister Mary Wilson (1985), his sister Adela Hodgson (2004), his brother-in-law John Wilson (1990), his nephew-in-law Rob Tullikopf (2000), his great-niece Kelly Smith (2001), and his good friend Elio Girardi.

A funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 2pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church with Father Matthieu Gombo Yange OfmCap officiating. Interment is at the Mountain View Cemetery immediately following the service. A reception luncheon will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help hall following the interment.
