MELNYK, Katheryna (Kay) passed away October 3, 2011 at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital with her family by her side. Kay was born May 26, 1932 in Spedden, Alberta and moved to Yellowknife where she met and married her husband Wasel (Bill) of 59 years and in 1966 moved to Fruitvale. She also survived by her daughters Diana Hinds of Calgary and Maxine (Don) Handley of Abbotsford and son Richard Melnyk of Fruitvale. She leaves behind four grandchildren; Ryan and Amanda, Jessica and Kristina and three great-grandchildren; Logan, Christian and James; her sister Mary and brothers Paul, Peter, Mike and Fred.

The family would like to thank Wendy and Debbie for their support with Kay, doctors McCoid, Gill, Mountain, McCarrel and Jacobson, the staff of ICU and the second and third floors of the KBRH for their care and efforts during mom’s recent illness. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Grandma’s hugs and wonderful holiday dinners will never be forgotten and always cherished.
