July 30, 1945 - December 28, 2020
Born in Braunschweig in 1945, Klaus grew up in the tough post war era in Germany. At the age of 18, he moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, with only his trade papers as a machinist.
In 1968 he met his life long partner Waltraud at the German club in Winnipeg. In 1970 together they ventured back to Braunschweig where Klaus returned to his love of fusbal (soccer). On his team, he met his closest friend Deiter Hagdoorn. Their families stayed close throughout his lifetime.
Karsten (their first son) was born in Braunschweig in 1972. In 1974 they returned once again to Winnipeg where their second son James was born. Looking for employment they moved out west to settle in Fruitvale B.C. for many years until they moved to Trail to retire.
Klaus met a few close friends at Cominco where he was employed for over 35 years. To the family and friends that were close to Klaus, he was well known for his great gardens! Biggest tomatoes in all of Trail he'd say! He also had a love for fast German cars. BMW was his brand. And of course he absolutely adored his dogs. Klaus is survived by his wife Waltraud, sons Karsten and James, daughter-in-law Lucy and grandchildren Kyle and Kaiden.
We love you Klaus
