December 24, 1937 - November 20, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Laurie after a brief illness.
Laurie was born in Bathurst, N.S.W. Australia. He began his teaching career in Australia and England. He arrived in Trail with his close friends, Ian and Jenny in 1967, and soon began his long career teaching English and Drama at J.L.Crowe Secondary School.
Soon after arriving in Trail, Laurie took up skiing and became active in Trail Little Theatre. Over the years he has been very active in the community and in 2010 was voted the Trail Citizen of the Year. He was honoured for his work in the church, library, Communities in Bloom, Meals on Wheels and many school related projects. Laurie will be remembered as a respected and well-liked teacher by innumerable former students. He will also be remembered by many whose lives he touched in his own special way.
Laurie is survived by his three brothers in Australia. Bob (Kay), Donald (Patsy) and Dennis (Dianna) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Laurie's close friends imagine that he is now telling someone, somewhere, his infamous jokes. Rest in peace dear friend.
There will be no service by request. Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence by visiting the memorial register at www.myalternatives.ca
