It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Lil (March 8, 1935 – July 30, 2011) at the age of 76 years.
She married Richard Robert (Dick) Vermeire on August 8, 1953 and enjoyed 51 years of marriage until his passing on December 28, 2004.
Lil worked for BC Tel in Rossland in the early years of their marriage. After they had their family all settled, she returned to work part-time at the Red Mountain Resort. She then worked for the Bank of Montreal in Rossland until her retirement.
Lil is survived by her two daughters Cheryl (Dario) Degan and Marg Vermeire; grandchildren Mike (Jade) Degan; Kayla (Justin) Degan; great-grandchildren Emma Degan, Eric Buckley and Nate Degan; her brother Chuck (Sherry) Whitehorn and her sister Pat (Wes) Shovell. Also left to mourn Lil are her numerous nieces, nephews and their families, and many extended family members and friends.
A special thank you to Dr. Wilson for his care of our mother; Lucy Isernia for being a good friend to our mother in her life at Silver City Gardens; and Constable Chris Elwood for his compassion and help in our family’s time of sorrow.
Lil has requested that there be no service. Sarah Greenwood of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
