Ircandia: Lydia of Trail passed away April 15, 2011. Lydia was born September 9, 1932 in Trail, B.C.
Lydia was a very active member of the community. Although she enjoyed travelling, she loved Trail and its people. Most of all, she loved spending time with her many close friends. Together they supported local music and the arts. She was also an active member of the Sisters of Colombo Lodge, serving as an executive member and president for many years.
Most important to Lydia was her family. She was a devoted wife and mother. Spending time with her children and grand children meant everything to her.
Lydia is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years ,John, her sons John and Leonard (Coral), and her daughter Paula (Don) Richards; her grandchildren Vincent, Matthew, Lea (Lonni) Van Diest, Michael, Carly, Olivia and Sean, great grandson Ian, and her sister Eleana (Mario) Borsato. She was predeceased by her brothers Mario, Corrado, Bruno, Roland, Sergio and Lloyd Sammartino and daughter-in-law Laurie Ircandia.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Susan Benzer and the staff at Columbia View Lodge for the kind care and attention given to Lydia.
Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Trail, BC.
