Mary was born on August 2, 1926 in Fisher Branch, Manitoba and passed away peacefully April 18, 2019 at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, in Trail, with her niece at her side.
Mary was predeceased by Kate & Stephan Smith (parents), Alex Letwyn (stepfather); siblings Mike (Mary) Smith, John (Adeline) Smith, Annette (Paul) Bychuk, Jake (Muriel) Smith, son Gary Thornhill.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews; Jodi (Ken), Todd (Leslie), Debbie (Roman), Paula (Walter), Donald (Evelyn), Christine (Philip), Wayne (Lori), Larry (Joan), Ricky (Shauna), Paul Jr.
Over her lifetime Mary was a wife, mother, aunt, cook, housekeeper, bookkeeper, and volunteer. She will be deeply missed.
She spent the last 12 years at the Beaver Valley Manor enjoying many new friends she made there. I would like to thank the friends that she made at the Manor and how they looked out for one another. I would also like to thank Dr. Behrens, and Dr. Schumacher, and the second floor nurses for their care and guidance with Aunty Mary.
As per Aunty Mary's wishes, there will be no service. Gwen Ziprick, of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services, has been entrusted with the final arrangements. As an expression of sympathy, a donation to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
