In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Nora Bunn (nee Aaltonen) on June 5, 2023. Nora was born February 2, 1954 in Rossland, B.C., to Lauri and Nancy Aaltonen.
She married the love of her life, Paul Bunn on August 18, 1973 and lived in Trail until 1975 when they moved to Castlegar. She worked at Teck for 36 years and she enjoyed her work until her retirement, making many friends along the way.
In 1987 they welcomed their first son Jason and in 1989 they welcomed Jarret, to complete their family. Jason and Jarret were Nora's pride and joy, she was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. She loved her family with her whole heart, her family meant everything to her.
Nora loved life, and spending her weekends at Woodbury with her family was one of her favourite things to do. She loved the view of Kootenay Lake while being able to unwind and spend quality time with Paul and the boys. She also loved their faithful companions, their yellow labs Ruger and Sako with all her heart. She loved and treated them like they were her four-legged kids, they brought her so much joy.
Nora was also known to be a fierce competitor in the game of marbles, and many hours were spent strategizing and laughing with family and friends.
Nora was a true inspiration to everyone she met, she was a real ray of sunshine. She was the most honest, trustworthy person you will ever find, and just a real joy to be around. She could always find the positive, even through the struggles of life, and never gave up even when the going got tough. We were all truly blessed to have her in our lives, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Nora leaves behind her loving husband, Paul, her sons Jason and Jarret (Nicole), brother Don (Joyce) Aaltonen and brother Leonard (Dorothea) Aaltonen. She is predeceased by her parents Lauri and Nancy Aaltonen.
An intimate family gathering will be held. Ali Butts of Clark's Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to the renal team that has worked with Nora through the years, as well as all the doctors, nurses, and care aids at KBRH. A special thank you to Bev Thatcher who brightened Nora's time in the hospital. The thoughtfulness and care that you all provided for her are greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made in Nora's memory to the Renal Unit at www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca.
