It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Dick on March 19, 2014 in Clarsholm, Alberta.
Dick spend most of his younger days in Rossland, he then had a short stay in Trail before moving to Fruitvale.
He started his career with Cominco (Teck) up in Elkford, then returned to Trail a short time later and became a member of the Cominco Protective Services Dept. Deciding to retire in 2010, he moved to Alberta to start yet another chapter of his life.
He leaves behind his parents Alison and Ray Speer (Fruitvale), Son Ryan (Crystal) and grandchildren Caitlin and Logan Speer (Elkford). Son Derek (Tanya) Speer and grandchildren Garrett, Brendon and Kayla(Barrier). Daughter Rebecca (Eric) Eslick (Fruitvale). Also survived by his two sisters and his nieces and nephews.
Family would like to thank everyone for their overwhelming support, kind words and prayers given to us during this difficult time. And also to Dick’s “buddies” in Clarsholm for being there for him.
At Dick’s request there will be no service, cremation has taken place.
“In tears we saw you sinking
We watched you fade away
Our hearts were almost broken
You fought so hard to stay
But when we saw you sleeping
So peacefully free from pain
We could not wish you back
To suffer that again”
