SAUNDRY, Rosslyn (Ross) Joseph, born January 6, 1918 in Stonewall, Manitoba, passed away quietly in Trail, B.C. on November 20, 2011.

When a young lad Ross moved with his family to the Kerrisdale area of Vancouver where his father owned and operated a grocery store. He told of delivering groceries to customers by bicycle in his early life and then with his brothers when they were old enough to drive. Ross was an avid sportsman, playing softball, lacrosse, basket ball and golf. Ross was recruited for the Rossland lacrosse team in 1937 and employed by Cominco until his retirement in 1973. He was a founding member of the Trail Babe Ruth baseball, and a member of the St John’s Ambulance service. He served in the RCAF during WWII. Ross enjoyed growing a productive vegetable garden with his wife, Ida, and cultivating dahlias and a carpet-like lawn. Fishing was also a great passion and he and Ida spent many hours on Big Sheep Creek in a boat he crafted himself.

Ross was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers, wife, Ida, daughter, Marguerite and son, Tom. Left to cherish his memory is son Ross (Millicent), son-in-law Fred, daughter-in-law, Mary, 8 grand-children, 7 great-grand-children and several nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held in 2012.

The family would like to thank his caring friends Carla, Judy & Stu, the staff of home support, Rosewood Village, RDKB Hospital and CVL for their caring support of Ross.
