It is with sorrow we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather and papa on January 8, 2017. He was born in Trail on June 4, 1928.
Roy is survived by his daughter Marie (Joe) Hughes, his granddaughters; Danielle (Kris) Courtoreille of Kelowna, Marlise LeRose (Matt Malbog) of Edmonton, Candice Hughes of Kelowna and grandson Devin Hughes of Vancouver, his great-grandchildren; Ryley, Kash, Brooklyn, Isaiah and Lucian. Roy is also survived by his sister Norma (Ronnie) Milne, sister-in-law Vicki Bisaro of Trail and Peggy Colonello of Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews their children and grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his loving wife Flora, his son Raymund, his parents Andrea and Amelia Marchiori, his sisters Mary Lauriente, Louise DeRosa and Eddie Exner, and great-grandson Phoenix.
Dad was grateful for having spent so much time fishing, camping, hiking and gardening with Flora, his children, and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed deer and bear watching and marmot hunting on the mountain with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Roy was an avid handyman all his life, building his own boat when they were first married. Then he and Flora built their own house. Back in the day he fixed everyone’s TV’s, radios, washing machines, etc. then turned his talents to fly-tying and wood working.
The family would like to send their many thanks to Dr. Hii and the doctors who filled in for him on the weekends. Also the doctors and nurses and staff of the KBRH Emergency Room as well as the many nurses and staff on the 2nd and 3rd floor for their kindness and care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Holy Trinity Parish with Father Bart van Roijen, Celebrant. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ is in care of arrangements.
