This is an obituary for a great Woman, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. Ruth Margaret De Cosse was born May 10, 1939 in Ansonville, Ontario (daughter of Roy and Merle Robertson). She passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2024 after a short battle with lung cancer. April 30th was a very special day...it would have been Ruth and Ray's 68th wedding anniversary. Now they can truly spend it together.
Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband Ray, eldest son Timmy, grandson Daniel, and son-in-law Bob.
Ruth was the heart and central figure in the lives of her 5 remaining children, 11 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. She loved her family and instilled in them robust morals, strong work ethic, clear life purpose, and self-accountability that has served them well in life. She always imparted her wisdom: Life isn't always fair...How you choose to deal with it is always your choice.
Ruth kept fit all her life enjoying tennis, curling, cross-country skiing, and in later years swimming. Ruth was insulted at being referred to as a 'senior citizen' in the Trail Times when, in her mid 70's, her and Ray were stranded in the wilderness for 2 days. So, we shall refer to her passing, at age 84, in a way that better befits her zest for life and her youthful approach to life. Ruth was 84 years young in her passing and was active, engaging, witty, and vibrant right until the end. It is how she will always be remembered and cherished.
A Celebration of Life for Ruth will be held at a later date.
