Shelley Marie Elizabeth Fridleifson of Trail, BC, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012, in Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Born in White Rock, British Columbia, on April 25, 1965 Shelley was the youngest of six children. As a child, Shelley was always happy and made others smile.
Shelley grew up to be a beautiful and compassionate woman who gave selflessly to her three wonderful children and her beautiful grandson. Shelley opened her home to anyone in need and went the extra mile to help, whether it be a meal, a warm place to be or just a kind word.
Shelley faced many challenges and always handled difficult situations with grace, dignity and humility. Shelley will be be greatly missed by the people she supported in Community Living. Her work was more than a job, it was a life style. She worked as she lived, with acceptance of difference and an exceptional moral compass.
Shelley is survived by her sons Shawn and Kameron; her daughter Lyndsey and her son Riley; her brother Leif and his wife Dawn; her brother Paul and his wife Shannon and sons Tayler and Brenden.
A celebration of Shelley's life will take place in Fruitvale at Paul and Shannon's in May (details to follow). Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
