September 20, 1936 - March 12, 2024

In Loving Memory ~

The family of Tony DeRosa is sad to announce his passing on March 12th 2024. Tony was born in San Martino al Talgiamento, Italy on September 20, 1936 to Maria and Idamo DeRosa.

Tony was predeceased by his wife Joanne.

He is survived by his son Michael (Sue), daughter Beverley (Tim), seven grandchildren Eric (Sarah), Rachel (Sean), Megan, Olivia, Adam (Tracy), Nadia, Matthew, and great grandson Hudson. He is also survived by his sister Anna, brothers Bruno, Louie (Carol), and his nieces and nephews.

The DeRosa family immigrated to Trail in 1948. Tony was a hard worker who became a journeyman carpenter. He followed his passion, baseball, and moved to Vernon to work and to be a pitcher for the Vernon Carlings. Afterwards he moved back to Trail to marry Joanne and start his family.

His construction career with Cominco took him to places like Pinchi Lake, Pine Point, Red Dog Alaska, and South America. Over the years, Tony loved to ski, play badminton, tennis, and softball, as well as coaching various hockey and baseball teams. He also enjoyed fishing the ocean and his smoked catch became a staple in Rafters at the end of each ski day.

As retirement approached Tony became an avid golfer, when he wasn't building houses for family. In the summer, mornings were golf, afternoons were puttering on his many projects or swimming at Gyro. In the winter he headed South to continue to golf and watch Spring Baseball.

He also discovered his love for travel and soon he and his cousin Louie were jet setting all over the world. When he wasn't traveling, he was spending quality time with his grandchildren, at Gyro or Peachland.

After suffering a stroke in 2020 Tony moved into Rosewood where he loved to go for walks and visit with family and friends. His greatest joy soon became his great grandson Hudson who brought a smile to his face with every visit. Surrounded by family, Tony passed away peacefully.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Rosewood for their patience, understanding, and care given to Tony while a resident of the facility.

A Celebration of Tony's life will take place at a later date. Bill Clark of Clark's Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
