William Kenneth McGuire (Bill) passed away December 18, 2023 in Trail, BC.

He is survived by his wife Donna Price (Woodruff), daughter Susan (Gerry) Blixhavn, sisters-in-law Betty McGuire, Joan Raggett, Verna Woodruff, and Diane (Al) Buchignani and many well-loved nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife Arlie (Woods), daughter Janet LaForest, son-in-law Paul LaForest, brother Melville (Mick), sister-in-law Audrey and her husband Bob Wallace, sister-in-law Sharon Babish and brothers-in-law Eugene (Geno) Woodruff and Gerald (Gerry) Raggett.

He was born in Spencerville, ON to Ruby (Dunbar) and Ernest (Ernie) on December 14, 1930 and spent 43 years with the Abitibi Paper Company in Pine Falls, MB. He met Arlie in Pine Falls, where they married in 1956 and raised their daughters, Janet Lynn and Susan Lea.

Bill was an active volunteer in many organizations, refereed hockey, and organized many figure skating events.

As the son of a WWI veteran who survived the Battle of Vimy Ridge, he became involved in the Pine Falls Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) with Executive, Zone, and Provincial Command and served as District Six Commander for 2 terms. He received an honorary life membership for his dedication.

In 2003, Bill moved to Rossland, BC where he was embraced by Donna's family and became a much-loved cheerleader for his great-nieces and nephews. Bill continued his volunteer service at the Lions Club, Rossland Eagles Club, and Trail RCL #11. He was membership chairman for the West Kootenay Zone and Zone Commander for three terms.

In June 2016, Bill was awarded the Palm Leaf to go with the Meritorious Service Award, which is the highest RCL honour for service.

Cremation has taken place and interment will be at a later date. Andreas Schmitz of Clark's Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
