I wrote in a letter some time ago that Fortis, having both electric and gas, has become a bully.
But I was quickly put in my right place by a letter back to say that Fortis is just trying to save me money.
Why the concern? I’m paying my bill. I thought that is why companies are in business is to make money.
Back when they just had the electric company, I was never contacted by Fortis to say that I should go gas. After all isn’t electricity renewable? It makes me wonder if these new generators for more power is really for us or is someone else getting it.
I have changed all the windows to the most efficient on the market and my home has been completely renewed. But my downfall would be I have more windows than other homes.
My house is comparable to any other home of the same square footage for price of combined heat and light except I have no gas, just electric.
So now I hear that Fortis wants to include on MLS listings the power consumption of residences. And in the future that a energy assessment may be needed to sell your home. Never mind all the other work that is done to your home or what curb appeal you have.
When anyone buys a home they will ask for your bills. I think it is an invasion of my privacy for Fortis to air my bill to the public.
The MasterCard people don’t show the public where I spend my money and how much where, nor does Shaw or Telus.
In fact they like me spending more.
Shame on you Fortis.
