Texting and driving do not mix

"People, give your head a shake before spending that one moment on the cellphone that could change both of our lives for ever."

My job takes me to many remote sites on narrow roads that require my full attention to navigate.  I thought I had seen it all until the other night when I was driving home from work on a dirt road (the old Cascade Highway to be more precise).  That night a lady in a small white car was texting while driving around a corner on the narrow dirt road.  We almost met in a way we probably would not have enjoyed.

I still see people talking on cellphones while driving and maybe even worse, texting while driving. A lot can happen in the matter of a few seconds in a vehicle, even if you are driving slower that you normally would.  This small car narrowly missed my full size pickup.  Your car normally would have fared worse in a collision unless I drove off the side of the road trying to avoid you.  In the future, please pay attention to the road.

Honestly, I have been in the communications business for over 25 years and own a local shop that sells cellphones and the handsfree devices that you should be using if you must talk while driving, but do you need to text while driving?  I don’t.

People, give your head a shake before spending that one moment on the cellphone that could change both of our lives for ever.
