The issue is about principle, not just tax

Here is something to think about when you cast your vote for or against the HST.

At first I was going to vote to keep the HST as I understand the government needs the money to fund all the services the public is demanding. Well you can’t demand money from the government unless you let them take it away from you in the first place.

There is a new opportunity here this time that has caused me to change my mind. We have all experienced how governments will initiate something they said they would not do while trying to get us to elect them.

The HST is a good example. Well this is the first time in my experience that the public has taken a high profile referendum to this point where the government can get their hands slapped for doing this.

If we vote the HST out at this time, the government in the future may be more reluctant to charge ahead against the public’s wishes because they know now that the public can and will take them to task and vote them down costing them more money and some embarrassment.

I now suggest voting “Yes” to defeat the HST in principle.
