Special Olympic BC athletes roll into Trail

Close to 150 Special Olympic BC (SOBC) athletes, coaches, and supporters from across the Kootenays gathered for the annual Wilbert Ackerman tournament on the weekend at Glenmerry Bowl in Trail.

The tournament started on Saturday with 80 SOBC bowlers rolling for high score in the 5-pin tournament, and wrapped up Sunday afternoon, following a dinner at the Royal Canadian Legion on Saturday night.

When the final pin fell, the top team in the A Division with +120 pins was the Trail 1 team made up of Stuart, Paula, Maria, Lou, and Stacey. Second place with +40 pins went to Castlegar 1 with Haley, Wayne, Cody, Jay and Thomas, and third place with -50 pins to Trail 2 comprised of Robert, Bob, Jordan, Fred and Sherry.

In the B Division first place went to Cranbrook 4 with +209 pins, and second place to Grand Forks at +168. Nelson 2 captured first place with +387 pins in the C Division, while second place went to Nelson 3, +271, and third place to Nelson 1 with -16 pins.
