Basketball: Kootenay’s best battle for berth to BCs

The J.L Crowe Senior Boys basketball team battled for a berth to the BC Provincial AA Boys Basketball Championship in the regional qualifier at Crowe on Friday and Saturday. Six teams competed in the zone tournament, with the Crowe Hawks coming up just short, and losing in the semifinal to the Grand Forks Secondary School Wolves 94-69. In the end, Sparwood Secondary captured the Kootenay title beating Grand Forks 86-79 in the final on Saturday. Sparwood advances to the AA tournament set for Mar. 6-9 in Langley.
