Beaver Valley Nitehawks host spring camp

Nitehawks coaching staff is getting ready to host a spring camp this weekend.

Don’t tell the Beaver Valley Nitehawks the hockey season is over, as the KIJHL team coaching staff gets set to host some of the best young skaters in its spring camp this weekend.

Starting today, approximately 60 skaters and eight goalies will take to the ice at the Beaver Valley Arena for its annual May gathering.

“It’s more than what we had at our main camp last year and I think it’s more than what we had in the spring camp last year so it seems to be having some pretty good results,” said assistant coach Jeremy Cominotto.

Young players aged 15 to 19 from Alberta, B.C., and the U.S. will join some veteran Nitehawk players in a competitive weekend of practices and scrimmages.

Alex Evin of NL Goaltending will put the tenders through the paces on Saturday and Sunday, as coaches Terry Jones, Cominotto, and Kevin Limbert assess and evaluate potential Nitehawks.

“It’s a very competitive camp,” said Jones. “Lots of local prospects, out of town recruits, some veterans and former Hawks participating, it should be some good hockey.”
