Trail’s Rhonda Lee Bedard finished out of the medals at the B.C. senior women’s curling championships in Kelowna that wrapped up on Sunday.

With a 2-5 record the foursome from Trail — that included Rose Beauchamp (third), Laurel Babcock (second) and Anne Marie Byers (lead) — fell 13-0 to the second-seeded Sandra Jenkins rink (6-1) from Salmon Arm.

Bedard placed sixth out of the eight teams in the championship, finishing strong by winning two out of the last three games, 7-4 over Gwen Clark from Langley, and 10-1 over Cheryl Wyatt from Terrace.

Former Trail resident Kathy Smiley, who now skips for Royal City, finished the playdowns at 5-2, but was beaten 9-3 in the quarter finals by the Karen Lepine rink from Langley.

In the final, Nanaimo’s Penny Shantz beat Lepine 10-9 to claim the B.C. title.
