Birchbank tees up Fun

The inaugural Birchbank windup golf tournament takes place Oct 5 and includes18 holes, a 2 person scramble and guaranteed prizes.

“It’s going to be a blast,” said Birchbank Golf Club professional Dennis Bradley.

Of course Bradley was referring to the up-and-coming Birchbank windup golf tournament on Oct. 5.

“The inaugural tournament is all about having fun,” says Bradley.

The format is an 18-hole, two-person scramble, with an 11 a.m. shotgun start, with a meal, and guaranteed prize included in the entry fee.

“Every player is going to win something,” said Bradley. “It’s a reverse draw and the last person out is getting a 2014 year membership to the club.”

Birchbank has enjoyed great conditions all year, and the course will continue to operate until Oct. 31, weather permitting. The event is open to all and participants can sign up as a twosome or foursome, or a single and get paired with someone.

The event is a go no matter the weather - although the golf may be cancelled the dinner and draw will go on.

“If it snows, hopefully it doesn’t, but if it does snow everyone is coming and the people that are here can enjoy dinner and  win prizes for the draw all the way through.”

Entry for the Fun event is $30 Birchbank member, and $50 non-member. The deadline is Thursday, Oct. 3. so call the pro shop at 693-2255 to enter a team and putt the finishing touches on a great golf season.
