Cunningham, Portland face Kelowna next

Craig Cunningham is one step closer to a Memorial Cup and moving a little closer to home for the next round of the Western Hockey League playoffs.

Thursday night, Cunningham and the Portland Winterhawks completed a four-game sweep of the Everett Silvertips with a 6-2 win.

Cunningham scored the game winner and added an assist. He finished the four-game series with three goals and five points.

Now the Winterhawks take on the Kelowna Rockets, which swept Prince George in its first-round series.

The series begins Thursday in Portland and shifts to Kelowna for games 3 and 4 on April 12 and 13.
