Curling registrations sweep through area

Local curlers are gearing up for another year of bumps and raises, bonspiels and briers.

Curlers are gearing up for another year of bumps and raises, bonspiels and briers, as local rinks hold their registration nights in the upcoming weeks.

The Kootenay Savings Super League is one of the first to hit the ice with eight teams in the hack on Thursday at the Trail Curling Club, and with room for more if a last-minute team would like to sign up. In addition, the Trail Mens Club registration nights will be Oct. 8 and 9 from 7-9 p.m., with the league tentatively starting on Oct. 15.

In Beaver Valley, the Men’s Club registration goes this Monday at the Beaver Valley Curling Club at 7 p.m. Teams can sign up for Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday Men’s nights, while the Mixed Club registration will be on Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m. with games going on alternating Fridays and Saturdays. The B.V. Ladies Curling registration goes on Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. for the women’s league that throws rocks on Wednesday nights.

The clubs encourage new curlers to come try it out, talk to some veterans and enter a team, or play as a spare.  Contact the Trail Curling Club or the Beaver Valley Curling Club for more info.
