The Rob Ferguson rink took over first place in Kootenay Savings Super League play Thursday with a 10–3 victory over Russ Beauchamp’s Maglio Men’s team.

The game turned with a steal of three points in the third and another steal of two in the fourth end to make the lead insurmountable.

West Kootenay Mechanical’s Myron Nichol rink from Castlegar and Nelson’s Fred Thompson’s 5-N Plus were locked in a 5-5 draw when Nichol made two nice draws in the eighth end to steal two. Thompson missed an opportunity in the ninth that gave Nichol another steal and the 8-5 victory.

Rose Beauchamp and her Maglio Ladies squad came back from an early 5-1 deficit against Brad Morehouse and his young men’s rink from Castlegar. Beauchamp stole single points in the seventh, eighth and ninth end to take a 6-5 lead. The previously undefeated Morehouse rink was sitting two with last rock when Beauchamp made a nice double take out to force Morehouse to hit and stick for one to seal a 6-6 tie.

The Ken Fines rink also got into the winning column by taking its first game of the season. Next games go Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Trail Curling Club.
