After thousands of votes, the BCHL announced their top 50-players this week, a list that includes many local products.

In honour of its 50th season, the league filtered the 10 top products from each of the five decades it has been in existence.

The most recent additions are forwards Connor and Kellen Jones of Montrose who played for the Vernon Vipers from 2008-10. They join Chilliwack Chiefs Jeff Tambellini, son of Edmonton Oiler GM and Trail native Steve Tambellini, in the top 10 from 2000-2010.

The Jones brothers are in their second year playing for the Quinnipiac University Bobcats in Hamden, Conn, where Connor currently leads the team in scoring and Kellen is third in tallies so far this year.

More local top 50 include Trail native Ray Ferraro who played with Penticton Knights in 1981-82 and Rossland’s Dallas Drake who laced them up with the Lakers of Vernon in 1987-88.

Other area notables include Castlegar’s Shawn Horcoff who played for the Chiefs in 1995-96 and is now with the Oilers. Greg Adams (Kelowna Buckaroos, ‘80-82) and Ernie Gare (Penticton/Vernon ‘69-72) both Nelson products who also went on to have strong careers in the NHL.

Votes were tallied online at the BCHL website. Go to  bchl.ca for more info.
