Kootenay south soccer: Select teams select new logo

The Kootenay South Youth Soccer (KSYS) select teams will be charging into the 2013 season under a new banner.

The Kootenay South Youth Soccer (KSYS) select teams will be charging into the 2013 season under a new banner.

Last season KSYS began a quest for the best nickname, a handle that would adequately reflect the hard work, determination, and intensity of its select soccer teams.

“We received about 20 entries, and the winning entry by vote of the rep players was from Maddie Van Horn, who entered the name ‘STORM’,” explained KSYS’s Ralph Lunn.

The Kootenay Storm takes elite players from Rossland, Trail, Castlegar, and Beaver Valley and plays against teams from Nelson, Cranbrook, the Okanagan, and U.S.A Last year several Kootenay South teams were successful in qualifying for the Provincial finals.

The teams have already begun training for the upcoming season which gets underway Apr. 15.

After the name was chosen, KSYS had a new logo designed that will adorn the jerseys of the gathering Storm players this season.
