Langley Blaze scorch Trail Orioles

A tough Langley Blaze team swept a three-game series from the Trail AM Ford Orioles on the weekend in Kelowna.

The Trail AM Ford Orioles ran into some sizzling pitching from the Langley Blaze rotation, as they failed to score a run and managed just two hits in a three-game series with the Blaze in Kelowna on the weekend in Pacific International League action.

The Orioles dropped their first two games by identical 8-0 scores before succumbing to a close 1-0 loss on Sunday. Kyle Paulson pitched well for the O's in the 1-0 loss, giving up seven hits over five innings, while walking four and striking out six, while Darrin Kissock got the only O's hit against Cortez Chappel in the sixth.

The Blaze's Cory Parsons didn't give up a hit over five innings and Zach Mihic scored the only Blaze run in the second inning, going 2-for-3 at the plate to help Langley complete the sweep.

It was the same story in the opening game on Saturday, Trail could only manage a single hit by rookie Scotty Davidson in the opening game as they fell 8-0 to Langley. In the following match, the Blaze completely shut the O's bats down. Ryan Eisworth pitched five hitless innings, giving up a walk, and striking out three Oriole batters on their way to another 8-0 drubbing.

The Orioles play a double header in Vernon next Sunday, before returning home for a four-game series against the Northwest Honkers June 15-16.
