Last unbeaten team falls in Super League

Brad Morehouse rink’s unbeaten streak finally came to an end in Kootenay Savings Super League Thursday

After stealing a win in the final end the week before, Brad Morehouse rink’s unbeaten streak finally came to an end in Kootenay Savings Super League Thursday.

The Brier experience of Fred Thomson and his 5N-Plus rink proved too much for the young guns from Castlegar on this night, as Thomson controlled the middle ends of this game to win 7-3.

Two evenly matched teams butted heads, as Rob Ferguson squared up against Myron Nichol and his West Kootenay Mechanical team. The lead changed hands four times in this match, with Nichol scoring twice in the ninth end to take a 6-5 lead, only to see Ferguson score their own deuce in the tenth, to pull off a 7-6 victory.

Nichol plays Thomson Thursday in what should be a great matchup.

Maglio Ladies Rose Beauchamp and Trail’s Ken Fines were both looking for their first win in this early season. The nail-biter came down to last rock, with Beauchamp making a delicate tap back to take this game, 8-6.

Desiree Schmidt’s Ladies’ squad continues their fine play of late, as they dueled it out with Russ Beauchamp and his Maglio men’s team. It was a close game for the first four ends and then Team Schmidt scored four points in the fifth and three more in the sixth, to seal the win 11-5.

Super League continues Thursday night at 7:00 pm at the Trail Curling Club.
