Brad Morehouse and his young guns from Castlegar upset Myron Nichol’s West Kootenay Mechanical rink 9-7 in Kootenay Savings Super play from last week.

Morehouse made several nice draws to save his team on many occasions throughout the match, including a draw to the button for three points in the eighth end.

Desiree Schmidt and her Ladies rink from Fruitvale continued their fine play of late as they defeated Rose Beauchamp’s Maglio Ladies foursome 14-4.Schmidt controlled this match right from the start and put the game away with a steal of four points in the seventh end. Schmidt has now won three straight games.

Rob Ferguson’s Men’s team never got last rock advantage in their game, as they stole nine points in six ends to defeat the Ken Fines rink 9-0. Fines was faced with many difficult shots almost every end, and was forced to concede early.

Russ Beauchamp’s Maglio Men’s rink and Fred Thomson’s 5-N Plus, had a back and forth battle all night as the lead changed four times. Beauchamp carried a 8-7 lead into the last end, before Thomson made a nice tap-back for two points in the last end . Make the final Thomson -9 Beauchamp -8

Kootenay Savings Super League will resume play Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Trail Curling Club.
