Rex Hotel finally righted its ship and the Arlington Inn crept closer to a playoff spot in the latest Trail Commercial Hockey League action.
With the Trail Smoke Eaters taking over Sunday’s time slot, the TCHL schedule only had a pair of games on tap in the last week.
The Arlington Inn picked up a valuable point thanks to a 3-3 draw with Re/Max. Arlington, which has been mired in the league’s cellar for most of the season, held a 3-2 lead on Re/Max thanks to a third-period goal from Darrell Zol.
However, with time winding down, Dave Eccles notched the game-tying marker. Gabe Gaudet assisted on all three Re/Max goals.
Kevin Santori had a pair of helpers for the Arlington, which moved to within seven points of the final playoff spot with a dozen games to go per team in the regular season.
Last week’s second game saw a return to form for the league-leading Rex Hotel squad. Wayne Salekin had three goals and two assists while Jim Maniago contributed a pair of markers to propel Rex to a 7-2 win over OK Tire for its first win of 2011.
Action continues tonight when OK Tire meets Firebird at 7:15 p.m. and Rex Hotel takes on Re/Max in a battle of the league’s top two squads at 8:30 p.m. Both games are at the Cominco Arena.
