Rossland runners tackle half-marathon

A handful of Rossland runners headed to Kelowna for the annual Okanagan College Half Marathon on Sunday.

Dallas Cain, who is hosting the upcoming 5km/10km Dam Run on April 3 in Trail, got his competitive running season started on the right foot as he finished third overall in the 21km run in downtown Kelowna.

“I was confident I could take the win but super star runners Jeff Symonds and Olympian Graham Hood had a bit too much,” said Cain.

His time of one hour, 17 minutes and 51 seconds left him two minutes behind the winner Symonds.

Seth Bitting of Rossland was fourth in his age group (35-39) and 12th overall with a time of 1:31:05.

Clare Hurrey was sixth in her age group (25-29) and 74th overall while and Kelly McLean was 11th in her group (30-34) and 127th overall in a field of 214 half-marathon runners.
