Selkirk Saints: Proulx leads Saints to unbeaten beginning

Trail native Logan Proulx and the Selkirk Saints are on a roll in the BC Intercollegiate Hockey League.

Trail native Logan Proulx and the Selkirk Saints are on a roll in the BC Intercollegiate Hockey League as they get set to face the Thompson Rivers University this weekend.

Proulx received honourable mention for Player of the Week in the BCIHL as the Saints extended their undefeated streak to three games with a 6-1 win over Trinity Western Spartans Friday.

Proulx scored once and added two assists in the game and is leading the team with two goals and four assists over its first three games. He sits second in scoring in the BCIHL behind Player of the Week
winner Simon Fraser University’s Ben Van Lare.

“Logan’s had an excellent start to the season and made big contributions at both ends of the ice,” says Saints head coach Jeff Dubois.

“He’s
formed a productive partnership with his linemates (Wood and former BCHL
50-point winger Jackson Garrett) and been named an assistant captain on
account of his strong leadership skills.”

The Saints will have a tough two games against 2-0 Thompson Rivers as Castlegar native and former Rebel Anthony Delong returns to the Castlegar Rec Centre aided by former Smokie Curtis Tonello.

The Pack is also icing one of last year’s highest scoring lines in the KIJHL, former Kamloops Storm team mates Colten DeFrias, Chase Edwards, and Tyler Jackson.

DeFrias was also given honourable mention for the BCIHL PoW this week.

Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
