Close to 50 young skaters will take to the ice at the Cominco Arena Wednesday for the Trail Smoke Eaters rookie camp.
The camp will give the coaching staff a good look at promising up and comers and a few that will surely lace them up for the Smokies at some point this season.
“Their will be some that definitely will come to the main camp (starting Friday), maybe a couple of those into exhibition, but time will tell, it’s all up to the kids now,” said Smokies coach and GM Bill Birks.
The rookies will be split into three teams with check in at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Team 1 plays Team 2 from 12:30-1:45 p.m. Wednesday, followed by Team 2 vs Team 3 at 2:15 to 3:45, Team 1 vs Team 3 from 5:45 to 7 p.m. and Team 1 vs 2 from 7:30-8:45 p.m.
On Thursday Team 2 takes on Team 3 from 10:30 a.m.- noon, and Team 1 goes against Team 3 from 1-2:30 p.m.
An all-star game between the Team Black vs Team Orange is scheduled for Thursday from 7-9 p.m.
