Trail’s Silver City Days hosts its 18th Colombo Lodge-AM Ford bocce tournament

Come out to watch or participate in several sports activities during Silver City Days celebration

It just keeps getting better.

The Colombo Lodge is celebrating its 18th annual AM Ford Bocce Classic this weekend during Silver City Days, which runs May 8 to May 12.

The tournament starts Thursday, May 9 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Trail Memorial Centre curling facility.

The competition will see 128 participants on 64 teams compete for the coveted titles.

The curling rink will be transformed to eight state-of-the-art artificial turf bocce surfaces.

The excitement will extend into the lounge where spectators are welcome to have a beverage while watching their favourite teams compete.

The tournament continues Friday, May 3, from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., and starts Saturday, May 4, at 8 a.m. with all the finals at 5 p.m.

The bocce tournament is just the start of Silver City Days sports activities.

Trail Parks and Recreation will host a free Glow Skate in the Kids Rink on Wednesday, May 8 from 6:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

This year, the Trail Memorial Centre Gym will also host a table tennis tournament from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 11.

Don’t miss the Silver City Days Fun Run at Gyro Park on Sunday, May 12.

Registration goes at 9 a.m. and runners can choose distances of one km, five km or 10 km, and are encouraged to wear their favourite Silver City Days costume.

Also on Sunday, Trail recreation is inviting all pickleball players to its own Silver City Days tournament at the Willi Krause Fieldhouse from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
