Retired firefighter Munro Pickering and Rossland fire chief Gerry Woodhouse manned the pancakes on the flat top grill at the fire hall Saturday for Golden City Days’ annual pancake breakfast. Over $1,000 was raised for Kolby Zanier, a Rossland youth who awaits a heart transplant.

Sarina LaPointe, 22, took part in Selkirk College’s Orientation Day Tuesday at Jubilee Park in Trail, where those who attended were given the opportunity to meet instructors, take part in games and enjoy a barbecue. LaPointe is enrolled in the food service worker program, which teaches life and employment skills to those who are interested in the hospitality industry.
