Myrtle Acton of West Vancouover set a new Women’s 75+ B.C. Seniors Games record on Wednesday, launching the shot put 7.94 metres at Haley Park. The North Vancouver resident holds the Masters Canadian record of 7.98 metres set last month at a meet in Sacramento, Calif.

A few small additions here and last-minute changes there are all part of putting the final touches on preparing for the opening of the 2011 Seniors Games.

At Teck’s health and wellness swim last week, kids help celebrate the company’s generous $20,000 donation to Greater Trail KidSport. Teck’s Carol Vanelli Worosz presented the donation to KidSport organizers Betty Ann Marino and Gord Menelaws. The commitment is over five-years and will help fund youth participation in sport.
